Derbyshire peak district Cottages at Kings Newton Hall

Kings Newton Hall

We are not far from this attraction and can provide affordable Holiday Accommodation for Visitors.

King's Newton Hall in the village of King's Newton near Melbourne, is situated in one of the most attractive village streets in Derbyshire. The 17th century H plan house once belonged to Lady Palmerston and was gutted by fire in 1859. It was left in that state for 50 years until bought by Sir Cecil Paget who carried out a skilful and accurate restoration.

Sir Cecil was General Superintendent of the Midland Railway, his father, the first baronet, having been a former chairman. Interesting things to be found in the hall range from Chippendale chairs to contemporary pieces of sculpture by the Derbyshire sculptor Ronald Page. The Hall is not open to the public.

Knockerdown Farm is nestled in the Derbyshire countryside, in the heart of the Peak District, with easy access to Kings Newton Hall.

A collection of 18 self catered holiday cottages or varying sizes will be perfect for you and your family and friends during your visit. Enjoy the countryside of England whilst still being in easy reach of Derbyshire's fantastic locations.
